This 2019/20 interclub season has just commenced.
Competition began on Sat 19th October.
The HV competition team entry fee is $40 (t.b.c) for the Pre-Xmas round and $40 (t.b.c) for the Post-Xmas round (to be divided amongst team members). There will usually also be some ball costs, though junior tennis shirts are provided through the generous sponsorship of our local Stokes Valley New World and SV Community Trust.
Juniors are allowed to be involved in both Junior and Senior competitions as they successfully transition and develop their tennis.
Keys will again be made available to managers so the club-house facilities and courts can be opened easily for interclub matches and for team practices.
We usually have a number of junior teams spanning the grades from the higher Wellington Junior Regional grades and HV Premier grades through to the beginner novice grades. This year Hutt Valley Tennis has bought into play mixed team competitions which will allow more teams to enter , this is seen as a benefit to all associated Hutt Valley Clubs. Playing interclub tennis is usually the culmination of 2-3 years of beginner coaching, getting juniors ready so they are mentally and physically capable of participating in matches for themselves.
Playing in an interclub team teaches children the etiquette, sportsmanship and resilience to participate both as an individual (during a singles match) and as a team (playing doubles with a partner).
